Effective: 14 May 2026 · Last updated: 14 May 2026 · Version 1.1
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to all customers of Plume Host LLC and to anyone using our services through a customer account. Violations may result in suspension or termination of the account, with or without notice, and forfeit of any prepaid fees. Where conduct is unlawful, we will cooperate with law enforcement.
1. Prohibited Content
You may not host, store, transmit, or link to:
Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content depicting minors in sexual or exploitative situations. We will report such content to NCMEC and law enforcement.
Content that incites or promotes violence, terrorism, or genocide.
Material that infringes copyright, trademark, trade secret, patent, or other intellectual property rights of any party.
Material that is defamatory, fraudulent, or facilitates identity theft.
Personal information of others published without consent (doxxing).
Malware, viruses, worms, trojans, ransomware, spyware, or any code designed to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to systems or data.
Pirated software, cracked applications, keygens, license-bypass tools, or content distributed in violation of its license.
Phishing pages, scam pages, fake login pages, or any content designed to deceive users into disclosing credentials, payment data, or personal information.
Content subject to U.S. or other applicable export controls, including ITAR-controlled technical data.
Services or content directed primarily to residents of U.S. OFAC-embargoed jurisdictions.
2. Prohibited Activities
Spam and unsolicited bulk email. No sending of unsolicited commercial email (UCE), bulk marketing emails to lists without verifiable consent, or running open relays. Customers running mailing lists must use double opt-in and honor unsubscribe requests promptly.
Network abuse. Port scanning, vulnerability scanning, DDoS attacks, brute-force login attempts, or any other unauthorized probing of third-party systems.
Resource abuse. Cryptocurrency mining, cryptocurrency proof-of-work or proof-of-storage workloads, distributed-computing clients (e.g. BOINC, Folding@home for shared accounts), or any process whose primary purpose is to consume CPU, RAM, disk I/O, or bandwidth disproportionate to a normal website.
Storage abuse. Using your account as a primary file-storage, backup target, video CDN, or torrent seed for content unrelated to a hosted website.
Proxy / VPN / Tor exit nodes. Running open proxies, public VPN endpoints, or Tor exit nodes from shared infrastructure is prohibited.
IRC, game servers, voice servers. Hosting public IRC servers, persistent game servers, or VoIP servers on shared hosting is not permitted.
Adult content. Adult or explicit content is permitted only where the content is legal, the operator complies with all applicable record-keeping laws (e.g. 18 U.S.C. § 2257 in the United States), and the content does not violate any other clause of this AUP. We reserve the right to remove or refuse adult content at our discretion.
Gambling. Online gambling, betting, casino, or lottery services are prohibited unless you hold and maintain all required licenses in your jurisdiction and have our prior written approval.
Misrepresentation. Impersonating any person or entity, or providing false WHOIS or registration information.
3. Resource and Performance Limits
Shared hosting is provided on a fair-share basis. Sustained high CPU (more than ~25% of a vCPU averaged over 90 seconds), excessive entry processes, excessive disk I/O, or high MySQL load that degrades performance for other customers may result in:
An automated warning and process throttling.
A request to upgrade your plan or migrate to a more appropriate product.
Suspension of the offending process or account if the issue persists.
4. Email Sending
Outbound email is rate-limited per plan (default 50 messages per hour). Higher volumes require a paid email-relay add-on or external SMTP provider.
You are responsible for SPF, DKIM, and DMARC configuration on domains you use to send mail.
Your IP/domain reputation is your responsibility. We may suspend mail from accounts that generate complaints, bounce-rate spikes, or appear on blocklists.
5. Security Practices
Keep all CMS software (WordPress, Joomla, etc.), themes, plugins, and dependencies up to date.
Use strong, unique passwords and enable two-factor authentication on the client area and cPanel.
Do not share credentials. Use cPanel sub-accounts or team users for collaborators.
Compromised accounts may be suspended until the customer demonstrates the issue is resolved.
6. DMCA Notices and Counter-Notification
Plume Host complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512). To report copyright infringement, send a notice to our Designated Agent at hola@plume.host with the subject "DMCA Notice". A valid notice must contain:
A physical or electronic signature of the rightsholder or authorized agent;
Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed;
Identification of the infringing material and information sufficient to locate it (e.g. URL);
Your contact information (name, address, phone, email);
A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized;
A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the rightsholder.
If your content was removed and you believe in good faith that the removal was the result of mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3) containing the items listed therein, including your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if outside the U.S., the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming). We will terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
7. Reporting Abuse
To report a violation of this AUP, including spam, phishing, malware, or copyright infringement, email hola@plume.host with the subject line "Abuse Report" and include URLs, headers, timestamps, and any other relevant information. We respond to verified reports promptly.
8. Enforcement and Appeals
We may, at our sole discretion, suspend or terminate any account that violates this AUP. For severe violations (CSAM, phishing, active attacks, malware distribution), we suspend immediately and without notice. For less severe issues, we typically notify the customer and provide an opportunity to remedy. Violations do not entitle the customer to a refund.
Appeals. Customers may appeal a suspension by emailing hola@plume.host within seven (7) days of suspension with the subject "Appeal — Suspension". We will respond within five (5) business days.
9. Changes
We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be announced via the client area or by email at least thirty (30) days before they take effect.
